Public offer Super Funds

Many companies offer superannuation funds to the public including entities owned by some of Australia’s major financial institutions such as banks and insurance companies.

These funds offer you the capacity to direct how your investments are made but do not usually offer the same amount of choice that is provided by an SMSF.  Nevertheless for many people this is a better choice because the responsibility for the trustee’s role is managed by the company which manages the superannuation fund.

It is important to appreciate the features of different public offer superannuation funds.   Some allow you to hold direct equities in your super' account, while others will limit you to the fund's standard menus, which often consist of a range of managed funds.  It is important to select a fund that provides the flexibility that you require.
